The indoor restaurant
A refurbished dining room, with windows onto the sea. It is the all-year space, the one for long lunches and for groups.
The restaurant
Akquaaa is the restaurant of the Akquaaa Boutique Hotel, on the Calafell seafront promenade — the building that for decades was the Hotel Kursaal. Mediterranean produce and a wood-fired grill, across four spaces: indoor dining room, terrace with sea views, beach bar and private parking.
Plenty of people in Calafell still call this building the Kursaal, and it makes complete sense: the Hotel Kursaal was a landmark on the seafront promenade for decades and is part of the town's memory.
Today the building is the Akquaaa Boutique Hotel, and on its ground floor is Restaurante Akquaaa. The name changed, the dining room was refurbished and the cooking changed, but the location is the same: right on the beach, at Av. Sant Joan de Déu 119.
So yes: if you were looking for the Kursaal, you have come to the right place.

The menu leans on produce and on fire: the fish is roasted and then left alone, the grill burns real wood and the rice dishes are made one by one, when they are ordered. Around that, what belongs here: the xató from Vilanova, the wood-fired escalivada coca, the grilled tellines, the eight rice dishes and the fideuà.
It is cooking made for sharing: a good part of the tapas comes in half portions for precisely that reason.

Right on the seafront promenade. An upper area, with an open view across the bay, and a lower one closer to the sea. See the terrace.
On the sand itself, in front of the restaurant. Same kitchen, tapas format. See the beach bar.
For restaurant customers. On the Calafell seafront that is an unusual advantage, especially in summer. How to get here and park.
The Akquaaa Boutique Hotel occupies the same building. If you are coming from further afield, you can eat downstairs and sleep upstairs — and for weddings, communions and groups arriving from a distance, it solves where the guests stay without anyone having to move.
